The SGL brings you the second player interview with Quantum.Murder. After qualifying for the IEM Global Finals this weekend the SGL sat down to have a word with Murder and talked about his bright future.

SGL]GnR:
Greetings Murder and welcome to the 2nd edition of the SGL Player Interview. To start off, tell us a little about yourself and your previous gaming experience!
Quantum.Murder:

Hi, my name is Ben "MurDeR" Cardwell, I'm from Indianapolis, Indiana. I attend college at IUPUI, I'm 19. I played as an amateur-pro at WC3 for awhile, beyond that I'm just a gamer through-and-through.

SGL]GnR:
After playing Warcraft 3, do you feel your experience there has made your ability to learn SC2 easier or harder?

Quantum.Murder:
The transition to sc2 was very easy. The skills I gained in wc3 directly influence my style in sc2 as well as my ability.

SGL]GnR:

You went in to the IEM American Championships as a bit of an underdog, what went through your head when you got the confirmation that you qualified for the Global Finals?

Quantum.Murder:
I was very disappointed when I lost to Silver, a player I've done well against in the past. Going in the must-win situation vs. QXC I just knew I'm one of the top players in NA and wanted to show it. After beating him I think it took a bit to come down from the high. I feel like I've been overlooked thus far in the sc2 scene, and perhaps qualifying for the IEM and playing in NY in a month will get my name out there, and maybe even some respect as a good player in the NA scene.

SGL]GnR:
What was your hardest match in the IEM American Championships?

Quantum.Murder:
QXC for sure, our bo3 went the distance and in game 3 I played a very solid game. I was very happy with how I played and of course the win. It was also revenge, as i lost to him 2-3 in a bo5 at the Fisher's Tournament Finals.

SGL]GnR:
Are you happy about the American players who qualified for the IEM finals?

Quantum.Murder:
Yeah, I think these are some of the best players in NA, and they all deserved it. It's no fluke, for any of one of us to have made it this far in such a tournament.

SGL]GnR:

How do you plan on preparing for the finals?

Quantum.Murder:
Well, I have to try to balance college with sc2 so I have to be especially focused in my preparation. I am somewhat waiting for this patch to hit before I really start preparing, but after that I will of course focus on my TvT and TvP matchups and play as much as I can.

SGL]GnR:
What changes would you like to see in the upcoming balance patch?

Quantum.Murder:
I really don't pay any attention to patches. As long as i stop hearing "terran imba" blizz can do w.e they feel necessary, it won't affect my ability as a player therefore won't affect my ability to win.

SGL]GnR:
What is your long term goal in SC2 competitive gaming?

Quantum.Murder:
Just keep winning tournaments, maybe some of the bigger ones, and improving. I suppose everyone dreams of WCG and what not, but I won't think that far yet. Take it day-by-day, my next target is IEM.

SGL]GnR:
You are currently a member of Quantum Gaming. How are things going with the team and how do you feel about the overall success of the players?

Quantum.Murder:
I love my team. We hang out all day everyday on vent. Just a good group of fellas to be around. They keep me motivated and that's the main thing that attributes to my personal success. I feel like my teammates are all up-and-comers who don't have the experience that I or other top players have and I look forward to when they do because they are up with the most talented players out there.

SGL]GnR:
I've noticed that a lot of bw players are receiving a lot more attention coming in to SC2 rather than other players on top. How do you feel about the somewhat bias attention?

Quantum.Murder:
I think it is completely wrong to assume that because a player was good at BW, they will be better at SC2 than gamers from other games. I find that a lot of gamers, especially from NA that were top players in SCBW are NOT top players in sc2, and are overrated. I think a few beta tournaments were ruined by that Bias, in fact. I hope that the scene becomes more and more open to the gamers from games other than SCBW, because we are just as talented or more talented than a lot of the "famous" scbw players. Some of the best players in NA and EU scenes especially are NOT from scbw and deserve respect all the same from the beloved players as scbw.
